 I completely misunderstood the cropping sugestions, I appreciate all your comments and your patience  ok this should be more like the crop that was sugested.
I tend to agree that this crop improves the picture.Brian_C wrote:
Woooow, the clarity and contrast in this shot is just superb. Love it!! Could you tell us a little about the technical side of the shot, have you used a Polarizer and is there a signature use of Nik Software here.
As regards the cropping and composition, I think there’s too much road in the first one but too little in the second. IMHO I’d have cropped just above the two dots in the road in the first shot, but that’s just me, as Mark said as long as you’re happy with the shot….. I’d seriously consider, printing it BIG and hanging on your wall.
Well I used an old Canon 35-105mm lens at 35 mm the aperture used was f11 at 1/200 sec on a Canon 60d. It was processed in Lightroom 4 and converted using the lightroom converter, I used the clarity tool to increase the clarity of all the picture, although looking back I could have been more selective with the mountains.
Hi Thanks for the comments, this picture was taken on the road from Lone Pine in California into Death Valley, looking back maybe if I got closer to the road I could have got more sky into the picture. Placing the road in the middle I feel would cut out the left hand side of the picture due to the curve of the road. Here is the picture with suggested crop, Im not overly taken with it.
It really is pin sharp, was there some post sharpening done? Very nice shot. I agree with you about a slight move to the right but just as nice as it is too.

There was some sharpening done in lightroom using the clarity tool, I will go back and try again with the suggested composition changes.
Love this. The colours are great and its pin sharp. One small criticism I would have is that it looks a wee bit crooked. I get the impressions that its falling away to the right. Could be my eyes though :)

No its not your eyes  , the breakwater is sloping to the right, didnt notice it until i posted the image
Thanks John, the hook is indeed a beautiful place, I Tried to bring back the foreground in lightroom but I was consious of the noise issueand didnt want to push it too far. My computer is out of action at the minute so will have another look at the picture when i get the computer fixed.
Thanks again for the feedback it is always very helpful.
