Besides using this type of software, do also you use the services of a financial consultant / advisor? I want to become a sole trader soon and I need advice on some questions I have…
Anthony, did you end up trying other ones? Which one did you stick with?
Thanks! : )
Hi Poma,
I use an accountant to verify and submit my returns at the end of the year. I use Excel and provide him with income and expenditure spreadsheets. I used the services of a solicitor to draft client contracts.
I have purchased Light Blue Software and am trying to get to grips with all it can do. Their support is excellent with quick replies to emails. I can output nice quality Invoices etc. and it is very comprehensive. I will probably keep financial records on Excel this year as well, a belt and braces exercise with LB. When I am happy with my LB abilities, then it will be my sole source of record keeping.
I am currently trialling the Light Blue software. It certainly has everything I am looking for and probably more then I need. They have an app if a buyer subscribes to the multi platform licence. That also entails a monthly sub in addition to buying the software. I might have a look at trialling some others after e.g. 17Hats and then deciding.
I feel that the very low angle of the shot is allowing the foreground to take from the arch of the bridge. The grass/reed in the middle of the arch is very distracting. Maybe a higher angle would work better or focusing on the grass and throwing the bridge out of focus.
I use the Sekonic L-358 and find it an excellent meter for ambient and flash. Keep an eye on eBay for the spot attachment. I have seen them sell for $120 or thereabouts.
I purchased 3 x D300 bodies with MB-D10 grips last year from Grays of Westminster for the price of 2 here. They deal exclusively in Nikon cameras and lenses. Bought a used D70s from them a few years ago and it was mint with a 2 year warranty. You have to phone in your order but they are exceptionally professional, courteous and with very prompt delivery.
I use the X-Rite Pulse Color Elite System which allows me to cretaet profiles for my monitors and icc profiles for my printer. It is very good. However, the new rage is the ColorMunki also from X-Rite. http://www.colormunki.com/
This allows monitor, printer and projector calibration and is favoured by Will Crockett at http://www.shootsmarter.com Check his site for a review.
I used to have a Spyder but find the X-Rite gear more accurate.
Hope this helps.

Failing that PM me!
Used the 70-200 2.8 with 1.4 teleconverter on Nikon cameras for a few years. Found it very sturdy, reliable and liked the images from it. Have replaced it with the Nikon 70-200 VR which is unreal but more expensive.
I like the higher end Sigmas and have just bought the 50 1.4 which is lovely.
I use Graphistudio for wedding albums. Always very happy.
Others to consider (I have not used any of them):-

Asuka Books in Oregon USA.

Question for Sean1098.
I recently purchased a MacBook pro after 25 years of PC’s. What part of iWork do you use for invoicing, quotes etc.? it is not on the Mac so I would like to know how useful it is before I buy.
Thanks
