Thank you very much Desmond! When the world presents you so many amazing faces it is such a joy to try and capture all of the expressions and glances as they happen…

-By the way I am loving your blogspot space!

Japan was not nearly as costly as we had expected which worked out great!

I have shots from the Tsukuji Fish Market but I have not posted these anywhere at the minute. I wish I had the time to post them up or even the time to go back over all the photos but I am running a year long project and this eats up most of my free minutes. I will have more up when I can… =]

I have to say that I love the outdoor pool table shot too. It is beautifully framed- from the sweeping mountains to the coloured clothes on the line.

I like the sound of their past times… Finally you can turn a ‘misspent youth’ into a great ice-breaker before taking some amazing portraits.

    Great work :)

Thanks Martin- Kyoto was the best city that we visited. I fell in love with the traditional areas and was always surprised that just across the river were arcades and shopping complexs to rival any other major city in the world. Nara on the other hand did not imprint as heavily in my mind… Maybe it was our travel weary mindset that drove us out of Nara as fast. Also, it was the only city that was teeming with tourist groups.

Liam I will post up a few city photos now. :)

The cities were insane! On one hand you have tranquil cafes and bars rooted in traditionally cobbled streets; yet, on the other hand were the hyper-modern neo-cities that never sleep. The pace of living in cities like Tokyo and Osaka does rival their ‘Shinkansen’ [bullet train]- millions of people milling tirelessly between workplaces and department stores; chaotic arcades and nightclubs. I would not rush back to Tokyo. In Ireland there are maybe 7 million people [?] on the whole island but in Tokyo there are 30 million in one city! In areas like Shinjuku the subway station sees about 10 million people per day! Although I say that I would not rush back there I strongly suggest it to everyone- it must be experienced. :)

Fantastic! I really love the dark tones in Number 3…. It looks so amazigly bleak and really compliments the industrial wasteground/decaying buildings.

I hope my 1st roll comes out like this :p

Wow, this is a fantastic shot from a Holga! There is a fantastic eerie atmosphere going on…

I have just left in my first roll to get developed so time will tell if my Holga can make magic or not… I can’t wait! I really love the simplicity and lack of options. I am coming in from a hearty digital background so jumping to a really simple Holga is amazing. :)

Haha, even the novelty of not being able to review my shots is great… :)

Thank you for the kind words Steve! :)

I would advise anyone to go there if they get a chance- it has to be experienced! I will maybe put a few of the city shots…

Wow! As a full set this is very impressive indeed. The warm colours and rich tones that are on offer in each frame are sensational. You seem to have a wonderful grasp of space and composition.

My favourites from the set would have to be:

-The man sleeping amidst the pots. A wonderfully composed and considered image. It reminds me [slightly] of a Jeff Wall photo, ‘Insomnia’. I love that the eye is assulted by so many pots and pans quietly reflecting light and making the scene more chaotic. And yet in the middle of the frame there is a man sleeping/resting. Beautiful.

-The American flag wall art. Once again the composition is sublime and very well considered. As a socio-documentary photo it is brilliant.

-The boy and the ball. This is one of the best portaits I have seen in a while. The pose/expression and lighting are flawless.

Good luck making something of this series… Have you any plans for it?

    Best,

    Well done…

The layout is nice and simple which always helps. Everything is available within three clicks which will assist users get to where they should be without any complications or distractions. The words/information is concise which avoids over complication.

My only problems is with the flash drivers for showing the photos. I know that this can be a stickler for some users as they would not have the necessary drivers to view the images. Flash built pages also do not house the META data that HTML pages do which means that your site/images may not appear as readily on google.

I hope this simple review helps,

    Peter M

Hey, I know it probably sounds easier than it is but this looks like a basic clean up job. This means that the tools to focus on are your Cloning Stamp, Healing Brush and Patch. With these tools you can clean up most images but it takes some time if you want it to be flawless. If you are not sure on how to use these tools I would have a skim though the net for tutorials… Or drop me a PM.

    Good luck
