I have seen this tread before but until i recieved my bill from Colchester Camera Repair in England i could not comment.

I was looking to see if any of my flickr images were being used on any websites other than flickr. I used tineye with limited success. Thankyou all for your help in this matter. Its just nice to know that your work is wanted even though they wont pay for it in the first place.

I suppose my main reason for using this forum was to share an interest with like minded people. I have to bow my head with some of the offerings i have printed but i now look back and realise this was a point in my career when i was learning and without it, i would most likely be looking at other peoples work wondering why cant i do that. I have seen pictures taken with a world of difference regarding point and shoot and semi and pro cameras but these kind of postings would put you off the whole idea of letting other people criticing your work. If you want to help someone be positive in your approach. Being blunt is being just blunt at the end of the day. Point out where the improvements can be made and mabey how that person may go about it.

Colchester are prepared to replace the shutter for the quoted price and give a six month warrenty.

I think i will just get my shutter fixed with Colchester Camera Repair in England unless everyone here can reccomend anyone else that can do the job as good or better. I noticed on a Saint Patricks Day Parade the pictures from my 40D were dark. When i took another few photographs, the prview screen showed black except some exposure near the top left running at a slight angle to the topright. I stopped what i was doing straight away. On taking the lens off the camera i noticed the mirror was sitting at a slight angle. It looked unhinged. Dont ask me why but i pushed it up until it locked and stayed there. Now i was able to use live view with some limitations regarding autofocus. Ok i know it was a stupit thing to do but i was prepared to use it for one more day as i am very busy at the moment. He presto next day i turned it onn and the err99 came up on the screen.
I contacted a Canon repair centre in Colchester England (where i got some work done before) and they quoted me £105 to service the camera and replace the mirror. If i am correct the mirror is attached to the shutter assembly and this is why i was confused as to the small quote then i mabey wrong. Can anyone here help please?

Once the shutter is replaced, it’s practically a new body, and should last nearly another 100,000 frames. No reason for selling it now, unless you actually want to sell it, or upgrade to a new body.

Hi Paul, i got a quote from a canon service agent. Replacing the shutter is only replacing the shutter. Any number of factors can lead to other failures even before the 1000,000 actuations are reached. My main question here was, what can i replace my Canon 40D with that has a magnesium alloy body, fast fps and good with low light?
