For those asking how I did it, Sean hit it right on the head – a calm area of water near a small drop off in the riverbed. It really isn’t a difficult shot, it’s just “seeing” the normally unseen (if that makes sense???) I have just been trying VERY hard the last few years to “see” a small part of an overall picture. It’s easy to see the beautiful sunset but harder to see the sunset reflected in a small pool of water near the scene. This is what I’m trying to accomplish. Sometimes it’s easy for me and sometimes I really have to look at something for awhile to find that “nitch image.”

And, most importantly, thank you all for taking the time to comment. You made my day.

Is this created by HDR software, or did you have enough lighting to get this exposure with one shot?
Very simple choice of subject, with little or nothing to hold interest, but somehow it works.

If you dont mind me asking, which 135 mm lens are you using? If it is the f2 I would like to know what you think about it. I have an opportunity to buy one second hand hopefully. Looks like it worked a treat here anyroad.

The sharpness and the detail is what strikes me about these elludde (without being overharpened). Where does the name come from by the way?
I would be interested to know what camera adn lens you were using for these – I would guess 50mm 1.8 or therebaouts?

For my teastes the mono version is over sharpened. But the subject has great character.
Interesting to see that contrast masking has a place in digital manipulation – is nothing sacred from the darkroom… :(

The sky in the first one looks as if it was originally washed out, and it has been replaced in photoshop manipulation? The give away lines are all around the tops of the trees if I am right?

While your images may be snapshots to some it is really what they are to you that matters.
Shoot for yourself, for what you find interesting and pleasing to the artist and photographer within you – the work of Picasso and many other artists was snubbed by many critics!!

I enjoy your images. Do what you do, for you.

Count me in – especially interested in lith printing. Are you going to arrange for a weekend day, or is it likely to be during the week? Weekends are difficult for me as I am involved in Boys’ football coaching but with sufficient notice I might be able to arrange cover.

I like this image – good composition and some impact. Might have preferred stronger colours, but I suppose the muted tones suit the misty atmosphere?

I would love to know of any classes I could go to, to learn how to produce an and result like this. Great work all round!

I can’t believe the colour and detail brandyman has brought out of that original image!! It is obviously true that in digital, you can underexpose and still produce great results. Only problem is, I don’t have the skills required….. :(
