Thanks for the tips. I don’t want to open the canister because it’s a half finished roll I want to put in another camera, but I’ll try the bottle opener tip on another roll.

Gunn’s will sort you out for everything you need. I bought all my stuff there about 2 weeks ago and the total came to around 75 euro including chemicals, thermometer, etc.

The angle of view is somewhat important, I’d say. A greater angle of view may result in a greater dynamic range which may result in a different average light level (of course it might be exactly the same). In any case 30 degrees is roughly the field of view of a 50mm lens on 35mm film according to Wikipedia, and hence also a 80mm lens on 6×6.

Most of the decent shops will do C-41 and black and white 120 – Gunn’s, Conn’s, Camera Exchange. Conn’s are cheapest for negatives only I think. If it’s E-6, I think Conn’s, Photocare on Abbey St and that place on Merrion Sq are your options.

I heard Camera exchange will do Xpro, but haven’t tried it myself.

Dave – was considering the fixed lens RF as a way to dip my toe in, and considered a Canonet with a 40mm lens. The mercury battery situation made me hesitate a little, although I believe you can use other batteries, or even have the voltage changed during a CLA to take newer batteries with no issue.

I have a Canonet with the 40mm f/1.7 lens. The battery is no issue, I used a Wein cell mercury replacement. In fact the super-accurate meter with shutter-priority auto mode was the the best thing about the camera – before it abruptly stopped working recently. I only paid 30 quid for the camera though, so had no expectations of Leica-like reliability :)

These are great, I particularly like the one of college greeen, perfectly composed for the sharp spot of the lens. Maybe it’s the light, but there seems to be great contrast from the lens. How much exposure control do you have?

This is great, you got a very straight horizon for handheld. I like doing these Holga panoramas, though it kind of chews film!

You have to pan from left to right which seems cofusing and non-intuitive to me. I believe it’s because the image projected on to the film is reversed left-to-right.
