Looks like a nice quiet spot. The composition is good but I think you were there in the wrong time of day. In my experience architecture can only be photographed in the very best light.. after sunrise for example. I like your composition but there is too much contrast and the colours are real harsh.
All the best,
Zoltan
Cheers guys. The first two doesn’t look great at this size, you are right. The second is a merge of many frames and is quite detailed at full res. And I should have worked a bit more on the first, it seems dark and a strange colour now that I am looking at it again.
I used to shoot with a modified 135/2.8 qc lens (about 40 years old) a lot. It doesn’t have the sharpness of modern lenses, but it’s not anything like a cheap lens. Not a portrait, but here’s an example. Street shot at night… http://www.flickr.com/photos/randomway/2061433139/in/set-72157594477794486″ onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false; Mechanically the old Nikkor’s are far superior to the modern ones in my opinion. They look and feel great.
If you are looking for a modern option, go for a 70-200/2.8, that would be the best. Or if you want prime, your options are 85/1.4, 105/2 or 135/2. The last two are getting old at this stage. I have the 105/2 dc and I can say it’s a fantastic lens. Here’s an example: http://www.flickr.com/photos/randomway/2310681559/in/set-72157604022439198/” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
It seems to me that Fuji thought of everything, and all the buttons and switches are in the perfect spot… I am really looking forward to getting my hands on one of these, and I will probably sell my liver at half price for it.
I don’t have a darkroom so I’m not making anything, but I am lurking on the forum quietly :) The travel is going good, I’m in Spain right now.
I had to leave my Nikon gear at home, it was so heavy and cumbersome, not to speak about the chance that it would get nicked in Africa. If this X100 is really what it sets out to be and has good battery life, fires fast without delays and gives good images, I might even be tempted. But we will have to wait and see. And hope that Canon or Nikon prepared a similar surprise…
I would like to see one in person. It will certainly be the perfect camera for some, but I usually prefer to work with either wider (20-25mm) or longer (105, 135, 180mm) lenses. Other than that, it still looks like what I have been waiting for for the last few years… a small camera with good controls and build quality… the image quality should be fine, the last question is how fast will it work. Looking forward to seeing the price, too.
I just found four A4 size wooden (oak) picture frames, three A3 size pine frames and three A3 size black-gold frames. Anyone needs them? Make me an offer. You can get my pictures that are in them free with the frames.
