Unfortunately they have cut back the lower branches (Health & Safety strikes again) about a year or two ago and they aren’t as low as they used to be, they used to be really imposing, but pruning them back has ruied the look somewhat.

Thanks for all the suggestions and critique. I’ll go back when my camera is back from repair (ERR99) and try to recompose and expose the sun correctly :)

Just noticed she’s dented her eye, I thought it was a male at first, but not with a dent like that!

I take it from your voluminous text “down that same lane” that this is the lane (cliff face…whew!) that we walked up in Rathlin? or somewhere else?

Anyway, i like the third one best (although i like em all) because of the wings.

and craigavon lakes has a lot of these things as well, so i might head there early some morning :) Maybe the weekend after next.

Barring the wife or wallet forbidding it, i’d be willing to drive to Cork area for a meet, also i can do a couple of pickups on the way if needed as i live in Co. Down.

    Ah, Cool :)

Nope, i wasn’t around for Paul Merton, didn’t see any P.I. Straps either, but mainly cos i’m not sure what they look like? But i’ll have to get myself one and one for the daughter as well.

Trying to think who was there that i can remember… there were a lot of SLR’s there, but thats normal nowadays. The only one that stands out in my memory was a big bald guy with a Canon L series lens and a black T-shirt, that i can remember? If that wasn’t you, then i can’t say i saw you :)

Anyway, yeah, i’ll have to grab a strap and say hello next time :)

Also i’ll have to try to get to the next P.I. Meet, I’m sick of Jess the Springer telling me that i missed a great day :P

Nice, pity i missed that, i headed for Wexford for the Duncannon Reenactment event, but the missus loves the Red Arrows. Good shots, they look pin sharp too, good work :)

Thanks a lot, I hate film by the way, but for some reason i can’t stop buying film camera’s??? I’d like a WW2 era 35mm camera and i’m regularly scouring ebay for one. I’d like to develop the film and scan the negatives and perhaps print that way. Anyway, yeah, i was in Jessops today and got a dev tank and spools etc. I’ll go in during the weekend and get the dev etc.

I agree with the above, cropping some sky off looks good, but not nessecarily…nesessarily…neccessarily…necessarily…or whatever…better!

I like them all. Are they HDR’s or just normal shots. I like the processing you’ve done and don’t think they are oversaturated at all. HDR’s have the unnatural ability to really saturate the colour on a photo without making it look overcooked. These look like subtle HDR’s and i think they are normal shots but just well processed. I especially like the first, nice and simple. The third as well is a nice image, a bit like a pleasing painting.

I like the warmth and balance of the first, but i think the path leading in is much better on the second. Is it possible to combine both? Great shots by the way, i’ve been meaning to get out and get a field of Bluebells myself.

I agree, i went up Slieve Bernagh and Binnian in the Mournes at the middle of the day and got harsh light, i took to staying over on top of Binnian a few times and got nice shots as the sun was setting and rising again in the morning. But this place looks a bit bleak for camping :P
