You haven’t seen the station in Glengarriff then? My austrian girlfriend refused to believe it was a garda station!

Feels like there’s an electric chair waiting at the end in the dark – ‘dead man walking!’

Thanks Paul, I was actually trying to saturate the sky in colour and had a finished image I was happy with after applying an orange hue to it (it was a sunset pic) and because I’m an eternal fiddler, I went to the lightroom presets and flicked through them and came across the above.

As I said though, it was just luck and I really need to read up on my lightroom tutorials!

    Hi Brad,

Can you supply an actuation count please?

    Cheers

    Hi Soda,

If the shutter count is ok perhaps we could meet half way in dublin?

    Cheers

Hi Soda, Don’t suppose you’ll be anywhere near limerick at any stage soon? Also, how many actuations?

    Cheers

    Hi Rusty,

Thanks for the offer. The shutter count is excellent in fairness, would you be willing to consider €400 for the package minus the battery grip? I’m afraid that’s my budget limit.

    Cheers

As you can see by the sig I am interested in the D80 but won’t be around Naas until end of may so if you haven’t sold it by then let me know. Alternatively if you’re ever in limerick…

Cheers folks, I saw that alright in the for sale section but won’t be near kildare/dublin until the end of may so will expand my search to there mid-may (going to see roger waters – wohoo!). Was initially gonna buy a new D5000 but due to lack of motor i think it’s false economy and i don’t want/need video so the D90 is a waste of money for me so it’s a matter of biding my time now!

Currently reading through the GIMP manual, fascinating stuff, it’ll keep me well occupied in the meantime and hopefully by the time I get the D80 I’ll be a GIMP master (that’s what she said…).

Cheers again folks – I’ve been looking at a lot of your pics too for ideas on composition, the article on the fibonacci sequence was brilliant and if anyone is really bothered or interested in the fibonacci, youtube ‘Tool Fibonacci’ for a cool video (not photography related though)

    Hi Leanne,

I’m new too and like yourself have done a tonne of reasearch and I’ve decided to go with a used Nikon D80 and here’s why:

The Nikon D90 is approx €300 dearer used and that’s mostly for the video feature which I will never use.
I can use that €300 for lenses which will be transferable to my next upgrade
The D5000 and D3100 do not have any motors for focusing so they are really false economy as lens with their own motors are much more expensive. I dont know if the Canon 500/550D also have this issue?

I’m sickened as I just missed out on a D80 package used for only €395.00 by about 6 hours so I’m willing to bide my time for the right bargain. Try the equipment for sale section here and also http://www.adverts.ie. if you have any interest in a second hand cam – just make sure you know how many times the shutter has been used (shutter actuations) before you buy (should be less than 20,000 really to be any use).

    Cheers

    Rory
