I think the colour strip adds nothing. If it lead to soemthing specific then it would be better justified, but I can’t help feeling this would be better as either full b&w or colour.

    Disagree.

Personally i really like the colour strip, but i echo the sentiments of the first reply that it feels a little off/tilted

Same shot taken from dead centre of the colour strip would be perfect imo.

The first one is definitely my fav – i really like the composition.

I can see what the others are saying about the dark foreground and left side, but i actually think that helps push your attention towards the stadium itself, which is afterall the main subject matter.

Yea that’s a good point. Maybe i could lose the top one and still retain the bottom one ok.

I also think my trusty eye has let me down a bit with the level, i think i need to rotate the horizon a bit.

Very lucky (or well planned) to get there with snow on the ground, makes the place seem all that much more harrowing imo.

    Great shots.

Do I see reflections of that newfangled Christmas Tree thingy to the right?

Yea you’re right, must be reflecting back off the bus. They’re in one of the sets of windows to the left too.

Whatever the kit one that comes with the 450D is :)

Nope, very first time. Bought the thing the day before the game :)

A friend of mine is a very accomplished photographer so i had him on the phone to give me some settings to go with and then u just snapped constantly. Out of 700 photos plenty were awful, but the law of averages suggests i’d get some good ones by accident. :) Believe me there were more than enough terrible ones to backup my beginner status :P

Canon 450D with the same mate’s borrowed 300 sigma lens (don’t know any more lens details than that i’m afraid)

At the near side? Yea i had to cut it off there because there’s a wall on that side that would have done it for me otherwise :)

Thanks :) Rest assured there’s an awful lot of busted shots to get the good ones.

I’ve just been playing with the settings till i get it right.

I actually got another one minus the red light:

I actually did the NFL game, it was a while back now, but i did that somewhat cold – just got a mate to tell me what settings to use and then took 700 photos working on the basis that a few had to turn out ok :)
