i’ll try the aperture priority mode next time. learning a lot lately through this site and a couple of books i have on the subject. still new to the photography game, only had the camera a couple of weeks. but i like the site, plenty of folk willing to help, although i’d rather shoot manually and really get to know the ins and outs without relying on the auto options.
well spotted on the name by the way..
thanks madeline and lousy,
with regard to the railings i was thinking maybe use the squares as a frame for something on the beach, or the headlands either side of the beach.
i’m out that way fairly often so i’ll give it a bash again.
the people on the beach, i quiet liked the idea of having them so small. i thought it kind of gave a sense of how solitary they seemed (when in reality there was bucketloads of people, dogs etc on the beach).
i don’t know if the darkness could be helped as it was pretty dark, and i’m still figuring out shutter speeds, apertures, the whole lot.
i liked the touch up, haven’t a clue about photoshop etc. at the minute i’m loading the pics into the microsoft photo thing on my laptop
hi guthrij, yeah i shot it in manual. i flicked the camera into auto so i would have some idea of the shutter speed and aperture i should be using.
i like what you’ve done with the pic, but when taken it was a fair bit darker, 17.05 it says on the camera.
yeah they’re nothing special are they? i’ve only recently started taking pics and am interested in finding out
the insiders tips and tricks etc. any suggestions you might have i’d be glad to hear. i’ll probably end up posting
a lot of the same quality of pic up here. im reasoning to myself that the more i find out where i’m going wrong,
the quicker it’ll be till i can take a few decent shots
thanks for the replies folks. the pic was taken from the car park about 20 feet above the beach (the tide was in).
i was worried about the moon being too blurry and camera shake in general as i don’t have a tripod (yet).
i had the camera balanced on my woolly hat on the car park wall. another thing i thought might be a wrong was that there isn’t really much
in the foreground. i like the idea of cropping it portrait style though. i have no idea about how to go about that but when i figure it out i’ll give it a bash.
cheers for that grif, i might try a few more with the gremlin and
see what comes out. i can see what you’re saying about the background etc.
its not doing anything at all really
