J – appreciate your honest critique. Yes, an ND Grad was used to try and keep the highlights in the sky from blowing out – I did try and dodge a little detail back into the shadows on the cliff but felt it just looked too un-natural & started to form a halo.

This is one from my archives – haven’t ventured that far round the last few times I’ve been down at Ballintoy.
Surely the issue would have been resolved by now?
I think I prefer the 2nd one Andy, although perhaps I would have tried composing so that the spire thing was centrally positioned between the gap in the rocks. I don’t want you thinking I’m nitpicking! lol I really like the subtle colours in the sky & the contrast between the pier and the smooth water. You’ve done a really good job under the lighting conditions you were given.

Yes, it was certainly a really spectacular night for photography.
Time was 9:25pm, however, I’m not so sure how accurately set the time is on my Canon, so that could be slightly out! lol
