Difficult shot to get in this genre but you did well. Love the b/w’s. In most of them there is probably a bit of competing areas of interest/desire for me. The excellent quality of the b/w’s make me yearn for simple lines to get the spirit of the bridge but there are quite a few extraneous items in most of them which distract a little for me or at least feels like there’s maybe a tad too much going on. I like the last one the best because the lines in the photo seem harmonious to me and nothing is working against its neighbour so to speak if that makes sense. I do love the quality of the b/w’ tones though – very nice.
2 and 3 don’t do all that much for me but 1 has a particular charm all of its own. I quite like the humour in this one even if it wasn’t intended. The posturing is just a hoot!
Nothing much to add here except to say that I quite like the last two the most. The b/w quality is excellent and you do a good job at capturing the gig atmosphere well in these photos.
Much prefer the second one as well – a very atmospheric gig shot and the b/w quality is also very good. I might be tempted to reduce the square crop a bit to remove some of the top and bottom. The inclusion of the light is a good counter point and loads the atmosphere even more.
The colours are certainly very pleasing and in that regard the shot was well seen. However it strikes me more as being a wall than an abstract in that it doesn’t keep me trying to figure out what it is which is what I usually would become absorbed in with an abstract photo if you know what I mean. Just my 2 cents though.
I quite like the sun being included and in fact would prefer more of it. I think it provides a nice contrast and these types of days and weather mix can give some dynamic photographic possibilities. I also like the PoV and composition.
Agree with Jenny quite a bit. My favourite is No 3. It’s such a typical type of Irish cloudy daylight. What I like most about it is the differing shades of gray throughout and that lone tree is nicely placed in the composition.
The colours and light in this seascape are very pleasing but it’s a pity about the blur as has already been mentioned. It looks like an area ripe for further work.
I have to confess to having some ambivalence to taking shots of people begging in public like this. However I do like the contrasts in this shot – the flamboyantly dressed woman in contrast to the literally down on his luck man. Not sure about the landscape format here as it obviously chops the man half way into the shot but I presume you intended this result. Probably would have worked better for me in landscape mode to get more of the guy in to it.
