Hi redfox , yes the 11-16 is still for sale , lens does not have a UV filter (don’t use them as i use lens hoods to protect glass and reduce flare). The lens is made for the smaller sensors known as Canon APS-C only.
Hi Canice ,
The 1D Mk III is in very good condition a few marks but all aesthetic. I bought it second hand from Conns and was used originally as a backup camera by its owner. I have used it as an amateur so no major use from me. The firmware wasn’t even updated nor the Canon strap attached when I got it. I have the original Charger and Battery , Manual etc no Box though. I can post up some more pictures this evening if interested?
thats a lovely shot really like the colour of the sea and the sunlight hitting the rocks in front of the lighthouse. There is nice depth to it with the cliffs jutting out too.
Thanks Philip , unfortunately the cliff path didn’t give me much room to move back. i find it difficult to gauge sometimes with the ultra wide angle lens (11-16 in this case) how far back to go , i sometimes find you need to be close to a foreground subject but its something im going to have to get better at.
I have had an offer for the Body and Lens so i may consider an offer for the grip + spare battery.
Brand new the pair would cost around 135. let me know if your still interested.
Thank you all for the replies i will certainly try and get a shot with both flashes working this time. it’s difficult with so much vegatation around the flashes tend to light up the leaves like christmas trees :D you end up with some strange greens but i may do some clearing to lessen the clutter.
Thank you for the compliments Padraig i always enjoy looking at your Badger photos so wanted to try it out for myself. The canon flash system is good i would be the first person to admit i know very little when it comes to flash but i generally set it to E-TTL and away i go , on the night i had set the camera(7D) to only fire the wireless signal rather than a flash as well but as the second flash failed i turned the on board flash on also so i had a straight on light and a light to the left side. there is a setting that you can switch the slaves to that gives you i think an hour of awake time then they go to sleep i get paranoid that they are going to turn off for good so i usually press the shutter half way down every 20-30 min which keeps them awake. as for bait the oul peanuts and peanut butter are the business(organic no preservatives of course) , the camera has the wireless transmitter so there was no need for a remote release . I also used a small red torch to light the area i expected the badger to arrive in so i was able to use the auto focus on the camera(just!). i use a trail camera regularly to scout a location and from looking at that they tend to appear around 10:30 this makes me think that the sett is fairly close by. most of the techniques i used i either picked up from the web(yourself included) and Andy Rouse who has a very good book with case studies such as foxes , badgers and roe deer.
Thank you everyone for your replies, i would love to document them however these were taken down in Kilkenny and i’m based up in Dublin will have to try and go down again soon unfortunately the local farmer doesn’t share my love of foxes and i know last year he got to them before i did sadly :(
its typical too, i took two weeks off work at the end of april beginning of may to find the fox cubs didn’t see one and then by chance i stumble across 4 in a field its typical, they didn’t know what to make of me but weren’t too bothered by my presence hence i spent about 30 min with them :D
lovely shots 2nd and 3rd in particular as you have isolated a single deer , shame about the tags on the 2nd cant really see them on the 3rd. Really natural look to them.
ugh i know the feeling i love dogs but there is nothing worse when your trying to take a shot and a dog comes flying in and the owner does nothing.
