Tex, cheers for commenting and I think your right, I keep coming back and looking at the image and trying to figure out why I just wasn’t happy.
Im thinking if I reshoot it with 1 exposure for the sky and water and a 2nd exposure for the island it might work, once blended.

As is viewing it onscreen small it really don’t look right but viewing it printed large seems to. Strange image.

    What do you think.

Steve, this is a good example of a tricky location to photograph.
    Well taken and pp work.

Simplicity springs to mind. Love the pastel colours captured in this image. Very nice.

Tex, thanks for replying, I think I follow what your saying and can work to that in PS. I have never processed an image in a darkroom, nearest I have got to film was a throw away cam, only got interested in photography when i bought my first digital camera a D70, yep i’m one of them sinners lol..

Thanks all for taking the time to have a look and comment I’m glad the square crop seems to suit.

Tex many thanks for taking the time to critique the image.
I always expose my images to the right as far as possible without blowing the whites as I find nothing worse than printing an image which has zero ink on the page maybe in this occasion it was not the correct method and requires a different way of thinking.
I could maybe bring up lighter tones of grey in the darker areas in pp, but the actually scene had dark brown dirty flood waters and hence this reflects in the mono conversion. I’m not sure how I could work around this, I am open for any suggestions on how to improve on this as I’m sure I will be faced with similar tricky scenes in the future.

    Cheers all..

    Maybe someday…

I think the Northern ones arrive up North in their colours around the 12th of July..lol.

Jenny if you have Niger Seed out for the Goldfinches you might find some Redpolls will follow if they are in your area.

Ross if these are for nipa round 5 I would tend to go with the first image, as a print I think it will stand out well from the crowd.

Both excellent images, but I love the 2nd image showing some interaction.

Stunning work, but I also feel the lower half is distracting.

Tommy, the railings here are two strong and modern against the historic look of the castle.

The best shots of the castle that I have seen are all taken from the beach.

Also your image will be degrading at f22, Personally I would go back and try again (with tripod and use mirror up) at f11 Iso 100/200 also as wide on the focal lenght as you can go and focus 1/3rd of the way into the scene, you will find the depth of field will be ample that way and produce a far sharper image especially if you wanted to print large.

    Cheers

    Gareth
