As always thanks for the input guys.
I will post the original if I can locate it (drives at another location).

The original was taken with the intention of creating a silhouette and birds, rays etc, added to enhance the photograph, and that is what transpired – whether or not it is still a photograph now seems to be the debate.
In general terms though, most digital photographers I know use some type of post-processing, whether its just adjustments to tones, levels, colours etc, or something more extreme like changing skies, adding in people/objects, hdr, infra-red etc. In this case I added something in, many others take something out.
I was just as surpised it did well, and I too wonder where photography ends and graphic art begins.
While its extremely obvious it has been photoshopped, is it so different from using hdr effects, and the wide range of other effects available and used regularly by photographers in PS?
I didn’t make it to the judging, so don’t know what the views there were.
Thanks for the nice comments guys. Could indeed be an Emu. Peacock was great to see with feathers extended, but I had to take the shot through netwire had to crop the blurred bits of wire out, and I did ask the bull to turn and he did……..towards me!
Thanks Guys,
Didn’t realise this was on, was in the Ferns area and just saw the signs.
Alan, I gather this was a practice for the 18th? can’t make it that weekend. No, white teeshirt – check shirt and impatient 6-year-old, who had to be taken for her lunch after half-an-hour!
Maybe I could meet up with you guys some weekend as we seem to have a few similar haunts – judging from your posts. Next three weekend arranged though – Dublin, West, and Springstein, but don’t think I’ll be shooting the Boss! (well not the American one, anyway!)
Thanks John, its certainly lifted it. Didn’t realise the original was so dull til I saw your edit. Hoping to get up again later in the year when there’s more blue inthe sky!
Hi All, thanks for your advice, kind words and encouagement. Itried converting no. 1 to B&W as suggested, but I don’t think it works. Anyway, thanks again.
Thanks for the replies guys.
Its a Canon.
In theory, I hope to shoot a mixture. I feel I’m ojk for portraits with the 50mm and 60mm and for “not-so-close” macros with the 60mm. I like the idea of landscapes where the clouds seem to”hang” like 3D, and where moving water blurs. I am also hoping to get some birds/wildlife from a distance. I’m trying to spend as little as possible so the landscape lens might have to wait. Any further help appreciated. Thnaks guys
