Thanks for the kind comment matey! I’ve got a few other shots I’ll be posting in time. Hope you’ll enjoy them :)

That was taken at a woodland local to me in Kent, England. I suspect it may be an escapee from a zoo or bird park if it’s so rare. Thanks for the ID :)

Thanks very much guys. And for deebo’s request… It’s not such a good composition or quality, but at least he’s sort of looking at me :)

Glad you guys like it. I might upload a few more of my Tiger Bird shots later then :)

Thanks Alan! Good to see you’re still doing the rounds here. :)

Pete! Your tripod is still holding up great for me, it’s been invaluable.

Naw the fox isn’t a pet, was captured at some local woodlands :)

    Welcome!

I find as a general rule of thumb it’s best to get to the subjects level, particularly with wildlife photography. It’s a lovely shot nonetheless! The flower shot I can’t really say anything about, looks just fine to me, as I always say, it comes down to personal preference with a good majority of composures. :)

Thanks again for the feedback folks. I might put up a few more of the tiger shots I took that day.

If anyone wishes to know, this was shot in RAW on a Canon 350D + Canon 100mm – 400m f/4.5 – 5.6L IS USM

    f/5.6, 1/1000s, ISO 400, 400mm

Tweaked ever so slightly and cropped with Photoshop CS3

Thanks for the kind feedback. I was quite pleased with this shot. Just a shame it has to be taken in captivity. I’d love to shoot tigers in the wild! … With my camera of course. :P

    Thanks :)

Part of me would love to keep a wolf as a pet. Not too practical though, and they’re bloody big! With something like 3 times the biting power of an average dog you’d want to be very careful around them ;)

Well I am, quite frankly, mad about wolves. I feel so lucky to live close to a pack. There are even two tamed wolves there that I can take walkies now and then. It’s quite an experience :D

thanks for the kind words. I may well use that as a portrait… Although I was thinking this one might reflect my personality a little more accurately ;)

    Mmmmm lovely lens. Puts my 100 – 400mm f/4.5 L to shame.

A couple of good shots there, a little dark I would say, but the close up detail of the ducks’ wing is fantastic. Good work sir!

Ooh those are lully! Perhaps a bit more of the squirrels facing the lens would have improved them, but still, they are real buggers to shoot. Usually I would kick up a stink about foliage or artifacts obscuring a subject, but I think in the second shot it actually works very well, makes the shot feel sort-of…. Candid. Good work!

I always try to take snaps of squiggles, but they never stand still long enough. Just had a quick root through my snaps and found only one of a red one. I wish I could have got it in a natural shot like yours. Mine was caged :(

Usually I throw in some self-criticism of my own work, but there’s so many things wrong with my snap I won’t bother. I just wanted to prove I actually managed to capture one of the speedy little gits! (After bribing it with food)

    Thanks guys!

Yeah I was happy with this one. Pete’s right, it’s not perfect, but at that length it’s never going to be.

The glass wasn’t as expensive as it could of been. This is where luck played more of a role.. I used my Canon L 400mm USM IS plus a 2x extender, that, coupled with the 1.6x of the Canon 350D… well it’s actually just over 900mm isn’t it. Maths was never my fort?…….

jb7, you’re damn right! New avatar on the way ;)
