  • Hi Joe,

Well, pretty much everything you have read about the DF online is true, so it’s a matter of personal preference. I love it and am very happy with it.

It is *not* the same build quality and ergonomics as something like the D4. But it is still very well made and beautiful to use. The amazing sensor image quality speaks for itself. It is ridiculously lightweight. I actually found it too light for my taste initially but much nicer balance with a quick-release plate on the bottom! Will be great for traveling, however, and I will be doing that in a couple of weeks.

The shutter is quiet and has a beautiful warm sound quality to it! Shutter speed is great, as much as I’m likely to ever need. *Love* that it has no video.

My only real complaint is I wish the autofocus was more robust. The D4 was so fast and bang-on, this is a bit slower slower and hunts a bit more (regardless of lens). I don’t mind the reduced AF points, but the AF speed leaves a bit to be desired. But once you get to know it (like any camera), then you know what you are dealing with and can plan/act accordingly like a good dance partner. :-)

This is a fantastic lens, I had this exact one for many years. I ‘upgraded’ to the newer version that has vibration reduction. Frankly, I don’t notice any difference in sharpness. In many ways I wish I hadn’t because the new one cost me much more. And I prefer the feel and responsiveness to this one. Someone will be very happy with this lens.

I feel I need to address something after receiving some questions from interested parties:

I spoke with Nikon Europe yesterday. They confirmed that the warranty follows the camera, not the owner. If a new owner wants the name associated with the serial number changed to theirs, they will do that, but it is not necessary and the camera is covered for the duration regardless.

There is no pre-owned non-grey market D4 for sale in Europe in finer condition with lower shutter actuations and still under warranty than this one on offer.

Happy to speak with anyone at any time about this, and you may come have a look for yourself. Feel free to message me.

    Price just dropped by €250.

Same great camera (no additional actuations since posting).

In case anyone thinks this is ‘too expensive’ (I’ve gotten some comments, as expected), any of ye may Google the three words:

    Dublin Nikon D4

And just look at the first link that comes up to find out how much these babys are selling for. You will then begin to see the value…

Hi Joe, and thanks for the contact.

The camera is in perfect condition. It has never been serviced, nor does it need to be. It has the latest firmware updates.

You will not find a better, lower-shutter count D4 anywhere in Ireland except a brand new one. Because of this and the fact it is still under warranty, it has been priced accordingly and this is what I am seeking for it.

I’m not selling due to any problem with the camera or out of any financial desperation. I like to do a lot of street photography and I’m finding the size draws too much attention, so it’s not getting the use it deserves. I need to move into something smaller and more stealthy! But I will surely miss the quality, it’s so incredible.

    I’m based in Wicklow.

The way it works is, you give me *your* best price (you may PM me if you prefer), and I will consider it.
