Well spotted , Yes the light was quite harsh that was the reason I turned it to b+w to try reduce the affect , I took this around mid day while on a quick Lunch break , I plan to return late evening or early morning to Re-try ..

Hi Miki, they are bomb shrapnel holes , as you go through the arch you come into a small square called Plaza sant felip De Neri , there is a small fountain and a church , during the Civil war a fascist piolt trying to drop a bomb on goverment buildings, Missed and hit the square killing 42 people hideing in the church including 20 children , you can see the damage and church in the photo link below ..
